The Conciliation Project Presents… an evening of dialogue

The Conciliation Project (TCP) will present their two newest productions for a one-night only debut and public dialogue on Saturday, January 29, 2011. TCP recently partnered with the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities to create a show on bullying titled Pushed: explorations into bullying and Housing Opportunities Made Equal (HOME) to create a show on housing discrimination titled UnEqual Access: a journey towards HOME.

With a mission to promote dialogue on racism in America, TCP, the social justice theatre company of Richmond, is bringing the dialogue local focusing on two issues deeply affecting the Richmond community.

Pushed: explorations into bullying asks, “What is a bully?”, “Who does bullying affect?”, and “How do you stop a bully?” Jonathan Zur, Executive Director of the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities, affirms that “recognizing the important local and national conversations that are taking place around the topic of bullying, this partnership brings The Conciliation Project’s work into schools, with variations of the production available for students, educators, and parents/families.” The Virginia School Board Association named January “Bullying Prevention Month”.

UnEqual Access: a journey towards HOME explores the questions, “What is a home?” and “Who does discrimination affect?” TCP recently premiered the piece at HOME’s annual “Friends of HOME” benefit at the Virginia Holocaust Museum. UnEqual Access: a journey towards HOME contains trues stories from HOME’s vast documentation regarding the realities of housing discrimination in Virginia.
